Our December “Adoptable Pet of the Month” is Cooper!

We have had Cooper at CAF since August, and he is so ready to go home! Cooper is a special cat, who has taken a little longer to warm up than the rest of our kittens. When Cooper first came to CAF he was nearly terrified of people. He became tense when touched and spent most of his time hiding out of sight in the adoption room.

I have spent a lot of one on one time with this wonderful boy, and have seen him grow so much in the past couple months. Though he is still shy – he becomes more confident every day. Last month he finally learned that he couldn’t get rid of me, and I was going to give him gentle, considerate love no matter what! Once he accepted this, he began to show me love in return, and realized it was kind of nice! He now loves his back scratches, and purrs and kneads the whole time he is getting them.
Last week Cooper made the biggest improvement of all! While laying in his favorite cubby hole, he began to play with one of our wonderful volunteers. After a little while, he made the decision to venture out of his safety zone and cuddle up on her lap! Not only did he cuddle up with her, but he let one of the littlest kittens climb on top on him and try to nurse! He purred the whole time through!

Each day he has been playing and socializing more and more with people and animals. He needs to find a home that sees him for the sweet and loving boy that he is. He needs patience, kindness, and a chance to grow and learn that the world is not such a terrible place. I truly adore this handsome guy, and I can’t wait until he finds someone who can give him everything that he deserves.

Adoptable Pet of the Month!

Zoey was adopted!

 

Our Adoptable Pet of the Week is Zoey!

I am infatuated with Zoey! When she came to CAF in June, she was extremely shy. It was a challenge even to pet her at times. Within just a couple months, her confidence has grown tremendously! Zoey now follows people around the thrift store actually asking for attention!

Though Zoey is still very young (only about 1.5yrs) and acts like a kitten herself, she is actually a mom! When she first came to us, it was with her litter of 4 kittens. All of her kittens have been adopted, and she is still waiting to catch someone’s eye.

She is such a character and makes me laugh daily. Just this morning, she galloped back and forth across the store making noises I thought only a beast could make! On top of being hilarious – she is also very inquisitive and seems to love checking out new hideaways and objects that intrigue her. She really is an enjoyable young cat!

Adoptable Pet of the Month!

 Misty was adopted!

Animals currently at CAF.

Misty is our Adoptable Pet of the Week. Why? Because she is amazing! Misty is only 1.5yrs at the most and delivered 8 (yes, you read that right) healthy kittens!

All of her babies have gone to their forever homes, so now sweet Misty is just waiting patiently for hers.

She has made herself quite comfortable at our Sunny Brae thrift store and walks around like she owns the place. She loves attention, and can never seem to get enough of it! Misty is currently sharing the store with two other adult cats, and though they get along just fine, she would truly be better suited for a home where she is the only cat. Misty knows she is a queen, and because of this, doesn’t seem to know that she is supposed to share with her kitty friends.

Misty has been exposed to a few dogs and does very well with them. She is not afraid to show a dog whose boss when she first meets them, and then will be best friends with them once she gets the respect she deserves.

Misty is not only sweet and loving, she is very fun and playful, too!
